Písek offers several possibilities for active recreation. Near the Otava River, you'll find many sports facilities: a swimming hall, winter sports stadium, tennis courts, modern football pitches, an athletics stadium, and one of the largest climbing centers in the Czech Republic. Your children can enjoy many attractive playgrounds.

From Písek, numerous marked hiking and cycling paths originate.

• The sign post of hiking routes is located on Velké náměstí square, near the moath of Karlova Street. It will guide you, among other things, to the 12-kilometer-long city tourist circuit.
• The starting point of the cycling routes is the right bank of the Otava River near the Stone Bridge. We recommend the route "Around Písek", which spans 75 kilometers and is marked with a special logo – a cyclist symbol in a blue field.

Pedestrians, cyclists, inline skaters, and parents with strollers make their way along the popular Sedláček path to the nearby excursion destination "U Sulana". Along the Otava River, convenient paths suitable for cyclists or inline skaters lead to the town's near surroundings and recently also towards the villages of Semice and Smrkovice.

The tourist routes into the city's nearby forests have two starting points – "U Vodáka" under the Písek Mountains and "U Smetáka" below the Hradiště hill. The town's nearby forests are also crossed by several educational paths and two so-called sports paths. The densely forested and extensive area of the Písek Mountains offers plenty of sports and recreational opportunities – from hiking routes to educational paths, sports tracks, and sporting possibilities in nature, by bicycle or on horseback.
