Sand sculptures and sand pits
Every year in May, several giant sand sculptures adorn the banks of the Otava River near the Stone Bridge in Písek. And if nature and the hands of vandals allow, you can admire them until late autumn. Their creation and unveiling are part of a three-day festival of games and entertainment for the whole family, aptly named "Pískoviště" (Sandpit). Each year it has a different theme, which one moment takes you into the world of fairytale creatures, the next into the history of the town of Písek.
In Písek you will find quite many sandpits and playgrounds. There are some in the town's central park, the Palackého Gardens, mostly near cafes and pastry shops. The Municipal island in the middle of the Otava River has playgrounds and a view of the Stone Bridge and the town panorama over the river.
Workout enthusiasts will enjoy the nearby Výstaviště. Several playgrounds are located side by side on the Jiráskovo Embankment: a parkour playground, a pump track, a barefoot path, an original children's playground made of living willow, and the newest addition is a marble playground.
