Family trips

Písek offers several fun ways to explore the city with children. The main attraction for visitors with children are the interactive exhibitions in the Sladovna Gallery. Young visitors will also enjoy the Prácheňské Museum, where they can see live fish and other exhibits. We hope you will enjoy some of the town's playgrounds.

For short cycling trips we recommend the cycle paths along the Otava River, downstream to Sulanov and upstream around 'U Smetáka' towards Putim. A new option is the cycle path to Semice and from there around the Klášterské ponds towards Smrkovice and back to Písek.

You can also visit the unique Fairy Tale Forge in Selibov. On the edge of the Písecké Mountains, in the location 'U Vodáka', visitors can see moufflons in an enclosure. Nearby Protivín offers live crocodiles or the charming landscape of Zelendárky with ponds and picturesque villages. Animal lovers can visit the Makov animal rescue centre near Čížová or the Zvířátkov private zoo in Putim.
