Cycling around Písek: tradition and modernity on two wheels
Cycling is very popular today and has a long tradition in Písek. The ‘Club of Cyclists’ was founded in 1887 by Augustin Reiner in the restaurant ‘At Reiner’ and was one of the first cycling clubs in Bohemia. Following the revival of the club in 2007, you can still find riders on historic penny-farthing bikes in Písek.
Cycle paths through the town
Numerous cycle paths now lead through the town and the surrounding region. The terrain around Písek is mostly hilly, but there are also flat routes along the Otava and Blanice rivers that are ideal for leisure cyclists.
The cycling route ‘Around Písek by bike‘ completely encircles Písek. Its total length is about 70 km, the route can be shortened in various ways. The route has no number, but a logo (a white cyclist on a blue background) will accompany you along the cycle circuit. You can find the route on the map here.
